CHI Memorial Hospital Georgia is a not-for-profit, faith-based hospital located in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. The hospital, formerly known as Cornerstone Medical Center, houses 36 acute care inpatient beds and provides emergency, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, outpatient treatments such as lithotripsy, along with medical and surgical services. CHI Memorial Hospital Georgia is accredited by the Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality (CIHQ).

CHI Memorial Hospital Georgia is part of CHI Memorial, an integrated health system with more than 3,500 employees, 661 medical staff members and 500 volunteers. Physicians and associates collaborate across the health system providing exceptional quality health care in the southeast Tennessee and northwest Georgia region.

In addition, Catoosa County, GA has access to three major hospital systems within 17 miles:
 

  • CHI Memorial, which is operated by Denver-based Catholic Health Initiatives, is located in downtown Chattanooga, TN. In 2004, Memorial was named one of the "100 Top Teaching Hospitals" by Thomson Reuters.
     

  • Erlanger Health System is a non-profit academic teaching center affiliated with the University of Tennessee's College of Medicine. Erlanger is also the area's primary trauma center, a Level-One Trauma Center for adults, and the only provider of tertiary care for the residents of southeastern Tennessee, north Georgia, northeastern Alabama, and western North Carolina. Erlanger treats approximately 250,000 people every year. In 2008, Erlanger was named one of the nation's "100 Top Teaching Hospitals for Cardiovascular Care" by Thomson Reuters.
     

  • Parkridge Medical Center is located east of downtown Chattanooga, TN in the Glenwood district and is run by Tri-Star Healthcare. Tri-Star also operates Parkridge East Medical Center in nearby East Ridge, Tennessee.

Catoosa County, GA has a multitude of higher education opportunities all located within a 20 mile radius.
 

  • Georgia Northwestern Technical College  located in Ringgold, Georgia offers programs such as logistics and mechatronics that funnel an educated workforce directly to our local industry.
     

  • Dalton State College is a four-year college located in Dalton, Georgia. DSC enrolls around 5,000 students.
     

  • Covenant College is a Christian liberal arts college in Lookout Mountain, Georgia affiliated with the Presbyterian Church in America.

Less than 100 miles from us is The Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. Georgia Tech, is a top-ranked public college and one of the leading research universities in the USA. Georgia Tech provides a technologically focused education to more than 25,000 undergraduate and graduate students in fields ranging from engineering, computing, and sciences, to business and design.

We are also in close proximity to the Oak Ridge National Laboratory located near Knoxville, Tennessee. Oak Ridge National Laboratory is the largest US Department of Energy science and energy laboratory, conducting basic and applied research to deliver transformative solutions to compelling problems in energy and security.

Higher Education

Civil War History

  • Chickamauga Battlefield is the oldest and largest military park in the United States, founded in 1890 to commemorate the 1863 Battle of Chickamauga, the second largest engagement of the U.S. Civil War.

 

  • Old Stone Church Museum: Old Stone Church in Ringgold was used as a hospital for both Confederate and Union Troops wounded in the Battle of Ringgold and as a stable by the Union.

 

  • Ringgold Depot: In 1862, the depot was the last building the General passed on the way north on the Western and Atlantic Railroad. Out of wood, low on water and with the Texas behind her, Andrews' Raiders would abandon the steam engine two miles north of the depot, ending the "Great Locomotive Chase."  
     

Established in 1983, the Georgia Winery is the first of its kind in Georgia and is the only winery in the North Georgia and Chattanooga area. Serving as a pioneer in the farm winemaking industry, Georgia Winery has lead other vineyards and wineries to open across the state in recent years.


Catoosa County Recreation Department houses numerous parks, gyms and ballfields including Jack Mattox Recreation Complex, which features seven lighted ball fields, a 1.2-mile paved walking track with board walks, a wetland area and a 9-hole disc golf course. Also visit Elsie A. Holmes Nature Park where you can enjoy hiking and walking trails.

 

The Tennessee River Blueway flows between the Nickajack and Chickamauga dams and includes three canoe launches in Catoosa County, GA.  The canoe launches are located at 82 Dietz Road in Ringgold, off Battlefield Parkway behind O'Charley's Restaurant in Fort Oglethorpe, and downtown Ringgold.

 

Lake Winnepesaukah is a family amusement park that features 33 rides and a water park. The park opened in 1925 and got its name from New Hampshire's Lake Winnipesaukee.

 

Northwest Georgia Amphitheatre is a 3,500 seat outdoor event venue managed and maintained by Catoosa County Government.
